At Shake Shack we’re committed to finding and implementing environmentally friendly practices in all of our restaurants. As part of our ongoing mission to Stand For Something Good, we’re always looking for innovative opportunities to be more sustainable and protect the communities we call home. That’s why we’re stoked to team up with the changemakers at Restore Foodware to pilot sustainable cutlery and straws in select U.S. Shacks!

Launched in 2020,  Restore  is the world’s first natural and regenerative foodware brand, on a mission to help end the flow of plastic into the ocean by replacing plastic with AirCarbon®: a natural, carbon-negative material that feels like plastic but degrades naturally if it ends up in the environment. AirCarbon® contains no synthetic plastics, PLA or synthetic glues, requires no food crops for production and is home compostable, soil degradable, and marine degradable.

Can’t wait to see our AirCarbon® cutlery and straws for yourself? Shacks in West Hollywood and Long Beach in California (along with Santa Monica when it opens this spring!), Madison Square Park and West Village in New York, and Miami Beach in Florida will have the cutlery and straws ready for you to try out.
