Daejeon is the country’s fifth largest metropolis, and is referred to as the ‘heart of South Korea’ since it is centrally located and the intersection of the road and railway networks. It is celebrated as a forward-thinking city known for science, technology and innovation, and the ultra-modern architecture is juxtaposed with the surrounding picturesque mountains.
Our Shack is located in Daejeon Galleria, a high-end shopping destination with a striking white geometric façade. The Shack design is inspired by blooming white magnolias, the emblematic flower of Daejeon, for an elegant yet elevated look. Signature Shack elements are complemented by petal-like pendant lights, emerald fluted glass tiling, rose gold accents and green leather banquettes.
Street artist Junkhouse created a large-scale mural with Daejeon’s landmarks, magnolias and Shack visuals, and it wraps the busy street corner inviting guests into the space. The piece continues into the Shack and creates an immersive back corner where guests can surround themselves with the work.
The signature concrete, Daejeon BamBam, is in partnership with a local, organic chestnut farm and is a cheeky name since ‘chestnut’ and ‘night’ have the same pronunciation: bam (밤). Our local charity is the Daejeon Food Bank, providing food aid to those in need.
