Senior Financial Analyst- Corporate FP&A

The Senior Financial Analyst is a challenging and rewarding role which requires strong FP&A skills, business acumen, excellent communication, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. This person is responsible for intra-year and long-term forecasting, reporting, analyzing and communicating financial results (P&L, Balance sheet and Cash-flows) to business teams across the organization. This role will also provide FP&A support to our Global Licensing team. This position is highly visible in the organization and is depended upon to support Shake Shack’s Financial Planning.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning, Analysis & Budgeting

  • Review historical results to develop sensible basis upon which to forecast. Drive continuous improvement to forecasting models and process
  • Prepare flexible and nimble financial models containing well-structured reporting outputs that facilitates insightful analysis and actions
  • Maintain and continuously improve intra-year 3 statement model (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow), containing fact based and sensible assumptions.
  • Prepares final monthly analyses of business trends and budget variance of financial results and Key Performance Indicators to be used in management reviews and strategic business analysis sessions.
  • Proactively identify scenarios, risks and opportunities around business performance.
  • Monthly and Quarterly Balance Sheet and Cash flow forecasting, with deep understanding of balance sheet drivers

Corporate Development 

  • Support creation of Long-term planning process. Interface with management to collect input and incorporate ideas / scenarios into a 3-statement financial model.
  • Propose scenarios that describe future growth plans. Run sensitivity analyses.
  • Develops in depth analysis of current and future business performance and recommend action plans; including gap closures, considerations for managing cost, growing the
  • revenue and profitability. 

Global Licensing Business FP&A support

  • Business partnership with the Licensing team by providing:
    -Accurate and insightful Sales reporting and analysis
    -Processes and modeling to facilitate the Licensing Sales and Royalties forecasting

Reporting and Ad Hoc Requests

  • Develop reports and ad-hoc analysis that help our business counterparts measure performance and allow management to quick glean insights (more focused on enterprise level e.g. cash flow)

Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics required
  • Ability to independently resolve complex problems where analysis requires the in-depth evaluation of numerous factors
  • Solid understanding of drivers of profitability and financial statements
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize work across various departments and their associated projects
  • Curiosity to explore data from different angles, problem solve and think critically through complex solutions.
  • Strong foundational accounting and corporate finance knowledge to support efforts to build scenario planning models and support ad hoc analytical work (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow etc…)


  • Minimum 3-4 years of FP&A experience
  • Public company experiences preferred
  • Multi-unit restaurant, retail or manufacturing experience a plus
  • Experience in creating financial models
  • Valuation experience is a plus
