The collab was born out of Laolu’s love of Shake Shack. The artist frequented his local Flatbush Avenue Shack so often that he wound up befriending the Sr. General Manager, Andrew Davis. Out of their shared conversations over ShackBurgers, Laolu concepted a three-part mural to be a unique reflection of the Shack’s surrounding Brooklyn community and draw inspiration from his Yoruba culture.
Laolu is a Brooklyn-based, Nigerian-born Performance and Visual Artist, Singer/Songwriter/Musician, and Human Rights Lawyer whose mantra is, “Everything is my canvas.” He is often compared to Twin Seven-Seven, Keith Haring and Marina Abramovic. His Sacred Art of the Ori Yoruba body paint ritual was featured on Beyoncé’s Grammy Award-winning Visual Album, “Lemonade.”
We’re so thankful to Laolu for beautifying our Flatbush Avenue Shack! Visit the Laulou website to see more of his work or stop by the Flatbush Ave Shack to view in person.
