Garrett Oliver Talks Shake Shack and Brooklyn Brewery's Hoppy History

Cheers to the Shack!

What a head chef is to a restaurant, Garrett Oliver is to Brooklyn Brewery. Using decades of brewing experience, brewmaster Garrett creates and develops unique beer recipes such as the Shake Shack-exclusive Shackmeister Ale.

Born and raised in Queens, New York City, Garrett has been the brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery since 1994. Garrett was introduced to Shake Shack in 2008 when the Shack team asked him to help create a brew that would pair perfectly with a ShackBurger®.
