South Korea’s first-ever Shake Shack® is slated to open this summer in Seoul’s Gangnam District. Together with SPC Group, Shake Shack will bring this highly anticipated Shack to iconic Gangnam Avenue (Gangnamdaero 10 6-gil) located between the Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon metro stations.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring our first Shack to Seoul,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO. “The vibrant energy and spirit found on Gangnam Avenue set the tone for an ideal community gathering place, which we’ve been building since our original Shack in Madison Square Park, New York City.”
Gangnam—one of Seoul’s largest communities—appeals to both locals and visitors alike. Since the 1990s, Gangnam District has become a true destination known for premiere shopping and dining. Like all Shacks, the Gangnam Shack will build on Shake Shack’s history of creating restaurants with innovative, forward-thinking architecture and inspiring design.
Shake Shack’s introduction to Gangnam Avenue will begin with an engaging art installation during construction. Throughout the daily hustle and bustle, Shake Shack invites guests to meet up and power up at the Shack with complimentary smart phone charging stations. Guests can drop by during lunch, in between visiting the many shops or on the way out for the night. Meet up on the installation’s custom built-in seats, plug in and power up! Inspired by the charming New York City lights, Shake Shack’s art installation will illuminate at dusk alongside the lively Gangnam night lights.
