On Saturday, May 29th, Shake Shack Gaien joined forces with the Aoyama community to get down for a neighborhood clean up. While the Gaien Shack hosts bi-weekly park clean ups, this was an extra special community clean up with Daisuke Uehara (2010 Vancouver Paralympics Silver Medalist) who leads an epic wheelchair awareness campaign.
The Gaien Shack volunteered alongside local school students totaling more than 100 people. All volunteers were divided into teams who were each required to participate via wheelchair. Daisuke’s mission is to educate everyone on handicap considerations while raising awareness for potential handicap barriers within the neighborhood.
In the end, each team was ranked based on the amount of liter collected–1st prize going to our very own Shack team members! High-5 buds!
