Not just another Marathon Monday! In the spirit of the Boston Marathon, the Newbury Street Shack – located steps away from the Boston Marathon finish line – opened up early to serve breakfast for runners and spectators alike. Throughout the day, the Shack also whipped up Team MR8 Shakes: vanilla custard blended with cold-brew coffee and fudge sauce, named in honor of The Martin Richard Foundation’s Boston Marathon team.
100% of proceeds from breakfast and the Team MR8 Shake benefited The Martin Richard Foundation, a non-profit created by the parents of eight-year-old Martin Richard, who was killed in the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. The foundation honors Martin’s message of “No more hurting people. Peace” by investing in education, athletics and community.
The Newbury Street Shack also set up a sign-making station to cheer on runners, and guests were awarded an array of prizes for creating the wittiest signs. Thanks to DJ Frank White for spinning tunes throughout the day!
Who said Mondays are no fun?
