A Scoop of Custard Helps the Medicine Go Down in Coral Gables

Jul 24, 2012

Each Shack loves its community.  We strive to connect our team and guests with impactful neighborhood organizations, so when Shake Shack first moved to Miami, we chose to team up with Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation (MCHF).

Now that Shake Shack has opened a second Miami location in even closer proximity to the hospital, the partnership has moved to our new Coral Gables Shack.   Our staff will continue to visit the hospital on a monthly basis for fun-filled frozen custard socials with patients.

“The last Wednesday of every month, one of the managers and a few staff members go to the hospital for an hour or two, hang out in the playroom and scoop custard, and take custard on room visits. It’s fun, and the kids and the employees really love it,” Shack Coral Gables General Manager Erik Hugley said.

Plus, a brand new Shack means a brand new signature concrete.  Coral Gables Shack is excited to introduce a delicious vanilla frozen custard “concrete” treat, the “Coral Crisp” that supports the foundation with 5% of its sales.

“Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation is extremely grateful for the continued support we receive year-round from Shake Shack,” said Ann Lyons, MCHF Vice President, Programs & Leadership Gifts.  “Together, we can make a difference in the life of a child.”

Just as Shake Shack is committed to extending hospitality beyond the four walls of our Shacks, Miami Children’s Hospital is dedicated to helping children from South Florida and beyond. There are more than 650 physicians who heal in all aspects of pediatric medical care, whether at the hospital, its trauma center, or its outpatient centers across the Miami Metro area.
