We Stand For Something Good® in everything we do. That means carefully sourced premium ingredients from like-minded purveyors we admire and love; thoughtful, well-crafted and responsible design for its place; and deep community support through donations, events and volunteering. Thanks for standing with us!
We pride ourselves on sourcing incredible ingredients from like-minded ranchers, farmers, bakers and food purveyors. Our burgers are made with 100% all-natural Angus beef—vegetarian fed, humanely raised and source verified. The Chick’n Shack™ is 100% all-natural cage-free chicken. Our flat-top dogs? 100% all-natural Vienna beef. Our fries are crinkle cut Yukon potatoes, with zero artificial ingredients. And our vanilla and chocolate frozen custard recipes use only real sugar, no corn syrup and milk from dairy farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones.
Our proprietary blend of freshly ground (never frozen!) 100% Angus beef, made from premium whole muscle cuts—no hormones or antibiotics, EVER—is the founding DNA of our menu. We work with Pat LaFrieda and other amazing butchers throughout the U.S.
The SmokeShack® is topped with 100% gluten-free, MSG-free, nitrite-free bacon, made using old world charcuterie techniques by Niman Ranch‘s independent family farmers, who raise livestock humanely and sustainably.
Our custom, organic Shack coffee blend is roasted in Brooklyn by Stumptown, sourced Direct Trade from farms in Central and South America and Indonesia.
A burger tastes better with a cold craft beer. ShackMeister® Ale, made just for us by Brooklyn Brewery, is a brew worthy of our eats with its deep golden color, bright citrus aroma, slight bitterness and bready malt flavor.
The best thing since sliced bread: all buns at all Shacks, worldwide, are non-GMO, made by our potatoey pals at Martin’s Potato Rolls.
Shake Shack began as a humble hot dog cart. Our dogs are 100% all-natural Vienna beef with no hormones and no antibiotics, EVER.
Our vanilla and chocolate recipes use only real sugar, no corn syrup and milk from dairy farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones. Equally sweet: Our fudge sauce and caramel sauce have zero shelf-life lengtheners.
ShackBurger dog biscuits are baked by hand just for us by Brooklyn-based Bocce’s Bakery. They’re all-natural, preservative- and chemical-free. Woof!

So fresh and so green, green. Every Shack recycles all bottles and plastics, whether you sort or we do the sorting post-collection. It’s the most efficient way to make sure ZERO recyclable material ends up in landfills. Our cooking oil is also reused to produce clean energy and our kitchen food is composted where locally possible.
Through partners like Niman Ranch, we’re committed to supporting ranches and farms designed to have minimal negative impact on the environment, preserving the land for future generations.
You sort! We sort! All bottles, cardboard, plastics and cooking oil get 100% sorted post-collection.
Thanks to our partnership with Restaurant Technologies Inc., 24,384 pounds of trash have been eliminated, or the equivalent of what 124 dumpsters can hold, as a direct result of having a clean oil management system.
Our paper disposables are made from Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)-certified paper and printed with soy ink.
Much of the gear sold in the Shake Shack Shop is made from organic cotton and/or post-consumer recycled polyester.
Our exclusive Mast Brothers Shake Shack Buttermilk Chocolate Bar is an exclusive blend of premium cacao beans sourced directly from small farm cooperatives around the world, served in a recycled heavyweight paper wrapper.
Our organic, biodynamic Shack Red® and Shack White® wine are custom blended by Napa Valley winery Frog’s Leap. Our vino is stored in reusable steel kegs, reducing CO2 emissions by 30% and saving 2,340 pounds of trash from the landfill.
Raise the roof! Our King of Prussia, PA; The Domain, Austin; and Westbury, Long Island Shacks feature solar roofs that each produce about 20,400kWh/year, or the average consumption of two average-size single homes.
This Philly-based design group is the mastermind behind the planters at many of our Shacks—and the Center City, Philly Shack’s green roof and eco-friendly bike corral.
Each Shack is constructed thoughtfully and purposefully to fit its unique environment, using a creative design approach that creates places and experiences like nowhere else. Think walls made of reclaimed antique barn wood siding, one-of-a-kind murals commissioned from local artists, living green walls and lighting installations inspired by local surroundings. All good in the wood!

Our booths feature lumber certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. They’re responsibly made using energy efficient methods by Rochester, New York-based Staach.
We strive to be the best employers and citizens of each neighborhood we call home. Every Shack donates 5% of sales of a specific concrete to a local charity partner, and our Shack Gives Back volunteer program encourages our teams to get involved in causes they feel passionate about—from animal welfare to education—in their communities.
Our free community fitness program is open to all ages and abilities, and the first drink is on us after every event. Hit the streets with Shack!
Gotta hand it to our team! For each case of disposable gloves used in our kitchen, a hungry person is fed thanks to Elara’s One Case • One Meal program. To date, we’ve provided more than 35,000 meals through City Harvest.
Work it! At Shake Shack, we take care of each other first and foremost so that we can make raves for our guests, community, suppliers and investors. At least 65 new jobs are created every time we open a Shack. Join our team.
Our teams donate more than 2,000 hours a year to serve meals to the hungry, mentor kids in need, clean up parks and much more, all for the betterment of their Shack’s community.
Community lies at our core. The five main areas we support are: hunger relief, arts and culture, education and family, environment, animal welfare and health.
Giving is sweet! Every May since 2012, we’ve teamed up with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign to raise money towards their goal of ending childhood hunger in America. Throughout May, Shake Shack guests who donate $2 or more receive a card for a free shake—valued at $6—redeemable on their next visit.
