We’re proud to introduce our first-ever chocolate bar–now available at your local Shack. Created by Brooklyn’s Mast Brothers, our dark chocolate bar is handcrafted from a special blend, just for us.
Michael and Rick Mast take their chocolate as seriously as we do our burgers. Not only do they seek out the best cacao beans sourced from small family-run farms in Peru, Madagascar, and the Dominican Republic, but the beans are also roasted, winnowed, stone ground, aged, and flawlessly tempered to create a one-of-a-kind craft chocolate bar.
Their secret? They use only two ingredients: cacao and cane sugar. The chocolate is also made with careful attention to detail in a small, converted 100-year-old factory in the heart of Williamsburg.
We met with the brothers and their team to excitedly witness our bars in the making, from the arrival of the beans to the chocolate being spun. Once made, the finished bars are placed in gold foil and then wrapped with our own custom designed, heavyweight paper featuring an illustration of the original Shack in Madison Square Park.
Most importantly, what does our bar taste like? Experiencing a Mast Brothers chocolate bar is akin to enjoying a fine wine. In the Shake Shack dark chocolate blend you’ll discover complex, earthy notes of cranberry and cinnamon.
Shake Shack connoisseurs will notice that our exclusive chocolate bar blend is the same Mast Brothers dark chocolate that has been used for the past year as a mix-in and featured ingredient in several of our frozen custard concretes.
